History of Anna Bay
Originally called Hannah Bay, named after the vessel Hannah which was rumoured to have wrecked at the spot in 1851. The name was changed in 1896 as most of the locals already called it Anna Bay.

The sand dunes of Stockton beach are the largest moving coastal sand masses in the southern hemisphere.
During World War II, Stockton Beach was heavily armed against Japanese forces. Most of the tank traps that were installed have now been removed and now feature as interesting features around the car parking areas of the beach.
