Toukley's most popular activities revolve around its waterways. Tuggerah Lake and Budgewoi Lake are an angler's paradise and are abundant with bream, snapper and mullet. History of Toukley
Toukley was first settled by Europeans following the construction of the Sydney to Newcastle railway line in the 1880s. The rail line allowed day-trippers and holidaymakers to visit the area, attracted by the stunning lakes and beaches of the suburb. Toukley was also home to a sizeable fishing industry from its beginning and anglers still flock to the region's lakes today.
