Labrador is an ideal holiday destination with a wealth of activities to please the visitor. Broadwater and the foreshore area is great for walking, jogging and picnicking and boaters and anglers will love exploring the wide expanses of Broadwater, the Nerang River and the southern reaches of Moreton Bay. Cruises operate along the rivers and lakes and surfers flock to the 57 kilometre long stretch of beach that make the Gold Coast famous.
The Australia Fair shopping centre at Southport has department stores, cinemas and over two hundred specialty stores. The Harbourtown shopping centre at Biggera Waters is an outlet mall with good cafes and restaurants.
Surfers Paradise is also within easy reach of Labrador. With its towering skyline, luxury shopping and busy night life, Surfers Paradise is always a major drawcard for visitors. The big three theme parks of Movieworld, Dreamworld and Seaworld are all easily accessible from Labrador.
History of Labrador
Labrador was one of the first suburbs settled on the Gold Coast and quickly became popular as a holiday destination for retirees and city dwellers from Brisbane. While many of the original buildings remain, Labrador is becoming increasingly popular as a holiday destination and as such is experiencing a new building boom with many apartment and villa complexes being constructed.
