Things to do in Main Beach
Main Beach plays host to an array of activities. The beach is always a large drawcard and despite its popularity, its size ensures you can still find a spot to yourself. A walk north along Main Beach takes you to The Spit which is popular with surfers and boaters exiting Broadwater for the ocean. Broadwater itself is great for swimming, kayaking and boating.
Main Beach is a great spot for dining and sampling the cafe culture in busy Tedder Avenue and you can shop till you drop at Australia Fair which is a short distance away in Southport. Main Beach is also within easy reach of Surfers Paradise with its towering skyline, luxury shopping and busy night life. The big three theme parks of Movieworld, Dreamworld and Seaworld are all easily accessible from Main Beach.
History of Main Beach
Main Beach began attracting tourists in 1925 following the completion of the bridge across the Nerang River. The area was sub-divided and the land of the suburb was offered for sale and was quickly snapped up due to its desirable beachside location.
Today Main Beach is a desirable suburb of the Gold Coast known for its upmarket shopping, trendy restaurants and ideal location.
