History of Miami
Miami was originally inhabited by the Kombumerri Aboriginal people who fished the waters off Miami Beach for thousands of years.
Europeans first settled the area around Miami in the 1920s. The name comes from Miami Shores which was the first sub-division of the suburb. The subsequent growth of the suburb lead to a large influx of retirees and tourists which resulted in Miami becoming one of the most desirable suburbs on the Gold Coast.
