Mission Beach sits only 38 kilometres from the Great Barrier Reef making it the closest access point along the Queensland Coast.
History of Mission Beach
Mission Beach was first settled by the Cutten Brothers who farmed the area, growing tropical fruits. They shipped their produce south and attracted the interest of others who settled the area and began farming the land.
Recognised for its stunning beauty from an early stage, the area is now a thriving tourist haven luring visitors, yet still preserving a quiet, village atmosphere.

Sitting just an hours boat ride from Mission Beach, The Great Barrier Reef draws visitors from all over the world and is on many people's must see list.
The Atherton Tablelands are also a famous landmark and include pristine waterways and an abundance of wildlife. The ranges are also home to spectacular waterfalls and gorges. Visitors can see the endangered Cassowary on the rainforest floor.

Transport in Mission Beach
Mission Beach is a one and a half hour drive south of Cairns and a two and a half hour drive north of Townsville in Tropical North Queensland. Coaches from Brisbane and Cairns stop in the town and the Tilt Train that travels between Brisbane and Cairns stops in the nearby town of Tully. Cairns Airport is a one and a half hour transfer away.
