History of Toowoomba
In 1827, botanist Allan Cunningham arrived in the region to discover 4 million acres of rich farming and grazing land. Originally known as ?Drayton?, the town grew throughout the 1850s and eventually was granted its own municipality in 1860. It is thought to have been founded by William Horton, who built the Royal Bull?s Head Inn which still stands today. In 1904, Toowoomba was declared a city.

If travelling from Brisbane, the drive will take around 1.5 hours along the Warrego Highway. There are inter city buses available from Toowoomba to Brisbane. A rail service runs twice a week between Toowoomba, Brisbane and Charleville. Toowoomba has its own airport and offers daily flights to and from Brisbane.
