The oldest art gallery in Queensland is located in Toowoomba ? a wonderful museum fuelled by a thriving local art scene. History of Toowoomba

In 1827, botanist Allan Cunningham arrived in the region to discover 4 million acres of rich farming and grazing land. Originally known as ?Drayton?, the town grew throughout the 1850s and eventually was granted its own municipality in 1860. It is thought to have been founded by William Horton, who built the Royal Bull?s Head Inn which still stands today. In 1904, Toowoomba was declared a city.
