History of Mclaren Vale
McLaren Vale is the result of a 1923 merger of two small villages, Gloucester and Bellevue, which were founded in the 1840s by British migrants. When they merged they took on the name of the valley. Grape growing began early in the town's history with the historic Hardy and Seaview wineries already in operation in 1850.
