History of Hawthorn
Hawthorn was first settled by Europeans in the 1830s as the city of Melbourne expanded eastward. The suburb quickly became a desirable location attracting the prominent and well-to-do and a number of stately Edwardian, Victorian and Federation homes were constructed in and around the suburb.
