Things to do in Jindabyne
Located at the foot of the Snowy Mountains, the holiday resort of Jindabyne offers visitors access to NSWs major ski resorts, Thredbo and Perisher Valley, in Kosciusko National Park. In the warmer months, Kosciusko is great for bushwalking, horse and mountain bike riding, canoeing and kayaking. Jindabyne overlooks a lake of the same name where water sports and fishing are also popular.
History of Jindabyne
Jindabyne was settled by Europeans in the early 1800s but it has little to show of its heritage as it was relocated to a nearby hill back in the 1960's to make way for the controversial Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme. Only a few houses were relocated and the rest of the old town remains under water.

In addition to the area's main attractions, Australia's highest mountain, Mt Kosciusko and the national park of the same name, there is Lake Jindabyne for water sports and a large lakeside statue of Snowy explorer, Count Paul Strzelecki. For great views there is the Waste Point Lookout on the Kosciusko Road and the Jindabyne Dam Wall.
