Things to do in Rye
Rye Ocean Beach is about a 5km drive south of the town centre and Mornington Peninsula National Park runs along the rugged coastline offering some spectacular walking tracks and scenery.
Visit the historic Lime Burners Kiln which offers some spectacular views. Rye is also home to the annual sand sculpting event which is hosted on the Rye foreshore and is the largest of its kind in Australia.
History of Rye
Rye is situated on the popular holiday area of the Mornington Peninsula and is nestled between Tootgarook and Blairgowrie. Rye Pier was built in 1861 to ship lime from the area over to Melbourne and paddle steamers brought over holiday makers to visit the town from 1945.
