History of Southbank
Prior to British settlement, Southbank was inhabited by Aboriginal tribes. During settlement, Southbank was primarily made up of factories, warehouses and wharves, forming part of the first port of Melbourne in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Southbank underwent urban renewal following the years of early 1990s, which saw the development of a number of residential buildings such as high rise apartments.
