Currambine was only named as a suburb in 1980. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning heaps of rocks. Currambine was developed as a residential area and continues to be a family friendly place to live.

Currambine is a relatively new suburb is framed on the west by Burns Beach a beautiful beach which forms one end of a nature walk from Fremantle. Burns Beach has been a small coastal village since the early 1900s.
