Things to do in Corlette
Corlette and the Port Stephens region offer an endless number of white sandy beaches and calm uninhabited swimming spots. Corlette Beach is a pretty stretch of sand bordered by the Corlette Marina and Sandy Point. Bagnalls Beach and Duchies Beach are also pretty beaches within easy reach of Corlette. Conroy Park and Roy Wood Reserve are the best spots to enjoy the tranquillity of the town. Nearby Anna Bay and Fingal Bay are excellent spots for surfing, swimming and fishing. Tomaree National Park also features beautiful, unspoilt coastal landscapes. The nearby town of Nelson Bay is a popular holiday and resort centre and features a busy shopping district, wonderful restaurants and a stunning foreshore area. The kids will love the Toboggan Run complex in Salamander Bay. The centre houses a downhill toboggan run, video games, mini-golf, canoe rides and indoor rock climbing.
History of Corlette
Corlette and Port Stephens was originally inhabited by the Worimi Aboriginal people. Captain Cook was the first European to notice Port Stephens when he sailed along the east coast of Australia in 1770. Corlette was established following the settlement of Nelson Bay and Salamander Bay and was named for Captain James Corlette, an early settler who transported coal and timber from Port Stephens to Sydney. Since the 1950s, the area has been enticing retirees and holiday makers.

Corlette is an idyllic resort village along the shores of Port Stephens. Larger than Sydney Harbour, Port Stephens is a breathtaking shallow and safe waterway. Surrounded by two volcanic remnants at the point where it meets the sea, the area has long been known as a perfect holiday and relaxation destination.
Shopping in Corlette
Corlette has a small shopping centre located on Sandy Point Road with a general store and speciality shops. The nearby Salamander Bay Shopping Centre contains a Woolworths and BiLo supermarkets as well as seventy speciality shops. Further provisions can be obtained in Nelson Bay which has a large shopping centre with a supermarket and speciality shops.
Restaurants & Cafes in Corlette
Corlette has a good number of restaurants and cafes for a town of its size, with most to be found along Sandy Point Road. The nearby town of Nelson Bay has a large selection of restaurants, cafes and takeaways and Salamander Bay is home to award winning fine dining restaurants. Picnics and barbeques are popular at Bagnalls Beach Reserve and Conroy Park overlooking Port Stephens.
Sports & Fitness in Corlette
Port Stephens is a large body of water perfect for fishing, boating, swimming, diving, snorkelling and water skiing. Corlette Beach, Bagnalls Beach and Duchies Beach are all calm beaches perfect for swimming and beachcombing. Surfing beaches are a short distance away at Shoal Bay and Anna Bay and the Tomaree National Park offers excellent hiking trails. The Pacific Dunes Golf Club in Salamander Bay offers a challenging layout.
Transport in Corlette
Corlette is a two and a half hour drive from Sydney via the F3 Freeway and Pacific Highway. Flights to Sydney and other capital cities operate from Newcastle Airport at Williamtown, which is a thirty five minute drive from Corlette. Rail services from Sydney and Brisbane stop in Broadmeadow and Newcastle, where connecting bus services travel to Corlette.

Corlette is 205 kilometres north of Sydney and 58 kilometres north of Newcastle. The largest town of the Port Stephens area, Nelson Bay, is just 5 kilometres from Corlette.
