Things to do in Mollymook

Mollymook offers something for every holiday maker. The beach is the focal point of the town, with Mollymook beach ideal for the keen surfer, swimmer or angler. The beach hosts the regional surf life saving championships. To the north is Narrawallee beach which, along with Mollymook Beach, is an ideal, safe spot to learn to surf. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with other stunningly beautiful beaches in the area, such as Washerwomans Beach, Pebbly Beach and Colliers Beach. Mollymook is surrounded by the beauty of the Budawang and Morton National Parks. There are walks for every level of bushwalker, from the whole day trek on Pigeon House Mountain to the half an hour ramble along the coast that takes in beautiful rock pools and interesting tidal zones.

History of Mollymook

The Mitchell family established a farm in what is now Mollymook in the 1860s. The name Mollymook supposedly derives from the name of their farm, Molly Moke, which was the name fishermen gave to a species of Albatross. With its magnificent beach and rolling pastures, Mollymook drew tourists from an early stage and remains popular all year round as a relaxing holiday destination.

Landmark in Mollymook

Mollymook beach is the most the most famous landmark of the town, but the area surrounding the town is also worth exploring. There are seven lakes within easy reach of the town, including Tabourie Lake, Burril Lake and Lake Conjola. Take a guided kayak tour along Narrawallee Inlet to spot some of the areas stunning bird and wildlife. Ulladulla's harbour is also a famous landmark and is worth a visit whether for a walk or a picnic by the water.

Shopping in Mollymook

Mollymook has food outlets and general stores. Ulladulla has a busy shopping strip with supermarkets, a department store and other speciality retail shops. Milton also has a supermarket and some interesting arts and crafts shops and art galleries. Try one of the many outlets offering fresh seafood from the fleet returning to Ulladulla harbour.

Restaurants & Cafes in Mollymook

Mollymooks dining options range from traditional take away fare to fine dining. There are excellent restaurants with sweeping ocean views and golf clubs and bowling clubs with bistros specialising in seafood and traditional food. Ulladulla contains more dining options yet, and Milton has a number of interesting, well priced eateries.

Sports & Fitness in Mollymook

Mollymook Beach is a fantastic spot for swimming, surfing and fishing. Mollymook is also a golfer's paradise with two great courses. A nine hole course overlooks the south end of Mollymook beach and to the west of town there is an eighteen hole championship course for the more experienced players. Ulladulla has bowling clubs, tennis courts and sporting fields. There are many great surfing beaches along the surrounding coastline and the area draws surfers from far and wide. Even so, you can still have a break to yourself.

Transport in Mollymook

Mollymook is a two and a half hour drive south of Sydney along the Princes Highway. Coaches from Sydney and Melbourne stop in Ulladulla and a bus service connects to the railway line at Nowra. Local buses service the towns of Mollymook, Ulladulla and Milton.

Transportation in Mollymook

Mollymook is 223 kilometres south of Sydney. Nowra is a 64 kilometres to the north and an easy 40 minute drive. From Ulladulla's centre to Mollymook Beach is a mere 3 kilometres.
