Things to do in Ulladulla
The Ulladulla harbour is the focal point of the town and is perfect for swimming, boating, snorkelling and fishing. Cafes and takeaway food shops line the harbour and the many tranquil picnic spots and walkways are always popular with visitors and locals alike.
Ulladulla is an aquatic paradise. Whether you are interested in boating, fishing, surfing or just beachcombing, there is a good chance you will find a great spot in Ulladulla. Surfers head to Manyana, Colliers Beach, Mollymook Beach and Rennies Beach. Boaters head offshore or around Lake Tabourie and Burrill Lake.
Ulladulla is surrounded by the beauty of the Budawang and Morton National Parks. There are walks for every level of bushwalker, from the whole day trek on Pigeon House Mountain to easier walks along the coast that take in beautiful rock pools and interesting tidal zones.
Ulladulla is well known as a whale watching destination. Narrawallee Beach and Mollymook Beach are two of the best spots for whale watching on the east coast of Australia. There are also many charter boat operators who travel to the offshore waters around Ulladulla that allow whale watching.
History of Ulladulla
Prior to European settlement, Ulladulla was inhabited by the Budawang Aboriginal tribe. Captain Cook made note of the Budawang people as he travelled along the east coast of Australia in 1770.
Timber gatherers and farmers were the first settlers to establish townships in the district and Ulladulla's harbour bustled with ships ferrying goods to market in Sydney. The name Ulladulla is derived from the Aboriginal word Nulladulla which means safe harbour.
Landmark in Ulladulla
Ulladulla harbour is the town's most famous landmark. Home to the largest commercial fishing fleet on the south coast, the harbour brims with life as trawlers bustle around the port to return their catch.
Shopping in Ulladulla
Ulladulla has a busy main street shopping strip with a department store, supermarkets and speciality shops. Nearby Milton also has a supermarket and some interesting arts and crafts shops and art galleries.
Try one of the many outlets selling fresh seafood from the fleet returning to Ulladulla harbour.

Ulladulla has a good selection of eateries ranging from fine dining to casual cafe style fare. Local seafood features prominently on the menu and fish and chips by the water is always a popular option.

Ulladulla has bowling clubs, tennis courts and sporting fields. Nearby Mollymook has a nine hole golf course overlooking the beach as well as an eighteen hole championship golf course to the west of the town.
Ulladulla has a number of great surfing beaches within easy reach, including Washerwomans Beach, Pebbly Beach and Colliers Beach. Despite the popularity of the surf breaks, it is still not difficult to find one all to yourself.
Transport in Ulladulla
Daily coach services connect Ulladulla with Sydney and Melbourne. Bus services connect Ulladulla with the train line at Nowra where there are frequent services to Wollongong and Sydney.
