Things to do in Whale Beach
Whale Beach offers an abundance of things to see and do. You can go for a surf at the beach breaks at Whale Beach or take a walk to nearby Palm Beach and up to the famous Light House.
You can take the ferry to The Basin and the Kuring-Gai Chase National Park.
Why not socialise and have a bite to eat in nearby Avalon at one of the many cafes and Restaurants. Dine out at the world famous Jonah's Restaurant over looking Whale Beach.
Enjoy dinner at Barrenjoey House whilst watching the Sunset or have a round of golf at the Palm Beach Golf Course or a game of Tennis At Careel Bay Tennis Club.
History of Whale Beach
Whale Beach is one of the last areas in Sydney to be populated. Early history only extends back to the early 1900's but really only became a popular beach destinations over the summer period from the 1940's and 1950's onwards.

Some famous landmarks include the Whale Beach Surf Club and swimming pool as well as the nearby Barrenjoey Headland and light house.
Shopping in Whale Beach
The shopping is mostly in the Avalon area but there are a few cafe's and restaurants scattered around Whale Beach. People mostly come to the area to go to the beach and swim in the ocean.
Restaurants & Cafes in Whale Beach
How can one go past Jonah's Restaurant or Barrenjoey House? These 2 fabulous restaurants are very up market and offer some of the finest cuisines in the Pittwater area.
If you want something not quite so up market then there is the Whale Beach Restaurant which is located down on the beachfront and also the Beach House Restaurant which is positioned just above the surf club and overlooking the beach.
There are small cafes located around the surrounding areas including a fish and chips shop and a hamburger / take away cafe near the beach.
Sports & Fitness in Whale Beach
The beach is the obvious focus of Whale Beach's favourite sporting activities - swimming and surfing.
Lap swimmers can try the ocean swimming pool at the southern end of the beach.
There is also a Golf Club At Palm Beach as well as one in Avalon.
Plenty of people head to Palm Beach to tackle the long beach and the famous Sand Dunes under The light house.
Transport in Whale Beach
Buses run every half hour from both the city to Palm Beach and back again. Other than taxi's this is the only form of public transport.
Whale Beach is approx 40km or 60 minutes by car and 55 Km or 75 Minutes by car to Sydney Airport.
