When you daydream about escaping every day life, there is probably one destination that keeps popping up – the beach. The idea of sand, sunlight and waves is enough to fulfil anyone’s holiday fantasy. And with hundreds of beaches to choose from in Australia – there is bound to be one that suits you and your family.
Choosing the right holiday beach home can be overwhelming when there are so many different locations on offer. When making your decision it can be useful to think about what you are looking for in terms of three factors:
1) Atmosphere 2) Landscape 3) Accommodation
Landscape
Each beach in Australia has its own unique landscape. Jervis Bay and the beaches of southern NSW offer spotless white sand and clear waters, while in tropical North Queensland, in areas such as Port Douglas, you can explore nearby rainforests and unforgettable coral reefs. Dunsborough and Busselton in Southern West Australia boast deep, sparkling waters nestled in bays surrounded by cliff tops. Or if you love to surf, then perhaps the shoreline of southern Queensland and the waves of Palm Beach and Broadbeach are for you.
Atmosphere
Australian beaches have their own character – from lively cultural hubs to tranquil seaside villages. Some beaches, like Byron Bay in northern NSW, have an alternative bohemian atmosphere, while there are also dozens of beaches in every coastal region which remain untouched and irresistibly quiet. Remote beaches such as Diamond Beach and Anna Bay in NSW provide a soothing sense of escapism.
Accommodation
Australian beaches offer a diverse range of accommodation options and can cater to all types including big families, small families, couples and corporate travellers. Choose from cosy beach bungalows, contemporary serviced apartments, spacious family beach homes and self catered flats. You can stay right on the beach, within the centre of the town or anywhere in between.
