Crescent Head Getaways

One of the best-kept secrets of the New South Wales coastline, Crescent Head is a delightful seaside village renowned for its famous surf break, dramatic headland and attractive surrounding national parks and reserves. Well off the beaten track and offering a great chance for some serious rest and relaxation, Crescent Head has a wonderful range of holiday rental accommodation available to visitors.

Crescent Head has one of the finest right-hand point surf breaks in Australia and is particularly popular with Malibu board riders who flock from all over the world to ride the famous wave. Large swells see the right-handers peel in past the headland, offering the perfect point break wave. Nearby beaches such as Goolawah, Delicate and Barriers beaches also have popular surf breaks and their remoteness ensures their line-ups are rarely crowded.

Crescent Head's Main beach is also great for swimming, sunbathing and long walks along the sand. Killick Creek enters the ocean at the southern end of Main Beach and has attractive sandy banks and great spots for kids to splash around in the shallows. Anglers can drop a line in from the beach, rock platforms or the banks of Killick Creek. Back Beach, Goolawah Beach, Big Hill, Delicate Beach and Racecourse Beach lie directly to the south of Crescent Head and feature many secluded swimming areas.

Hat Head National Park sits just to the north of Crescent Head and preserves alarge tract of coastal bushland, as well as a string of glorious beaches. Bushwalking, bird watching and 4WD trips are all popular throughout the park. The views from Smoky Cape and Kemps Corner are spectacular and also make excellent whale watching vantage points.

To the south of Crescent Head, Goolawah Reserve protects a strip of coastal bushland and a series of surf beaches. Hiking trails offer dramatic views of the coastline, while surfers and anglers can trek down to the sand for a quiet surf or fish with the beaches often entirely deserted. Limeburners Creek Nature Reserve and Point Plomer are a little further south and encompass a large area with plenty of dramatic coastal scenery on offer. Big Hill is one of the highest points along the coastline, has great views and is also close to a fantastic bushwalking track that travels through a beautiful rainforest.

Other popular attractions in Crescent Head include a round of golf at the town's spectacular headland golf course, taking in the views from the summit of Big Nobby or learning to surf at one of the many surf schools. The town has plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and a local pub to ensure a comfortable stay. Holiday accommodation in Crescent Head is often located close to the beach and includes a wide range of holiday apartments and holiday homes available for short-term rental.
