History of Bangalow
It is thought that Bangalow meant low hill or a type of palm tree in the native language of the Banjalang people who lived in the area prior to European settlement. The area began to be settled in the mid 1800s as a productive and popular farming region. With the recent construction of a traffic bypass, Bangalow has reclaimed its quiet country atmosphere, and maintained its reputation as an alternative and funky retreat.
