Things to do in Copacabana
Surf in patrolled beaches, swim or snorkel in its rock pool, go kayaking on the lagoon of this small coastal village. Take a bushwalk in nearby Bouddi National park or for great views head for the whale watching platform or Captain Cook lookout.
History of Copacabana
European settlement of the region began in the 1820s via Brisbane Water and Mangrove Creek. Local industry included timber, lime burning from shells, and farming and progressed to shipbuilding into the 1900s. Tourism began in the late 1800s after the railway was built and was further boosted in the 1930s after the construction of the Pacific Highway. Copacabana was given its name by real estate developers in the 1950s.

Copacabana has a whale watching platform and Captain Cook lookout which provides great coastal views. Bouddi National Park, known for its bushwalking trails, joins Copacabana and MacMasters Beach. Nearby Kincumber Mountain is 191 metres above sea level. Cochrane Lagoon separates Copacabana and MacMasters Beach.
Shopping in Copacabana
Copacabana's local shops include a convenience store, a video shop, bakery, newsagency, bottle shop and all are convenient to the local accommodation. Kincumber shops and supermarket are a 10 minute drive away and Erina Fair Shopping Plaza, one of the largest shopping centre in the Southern hemisphere, is just 20 minutes away by car.

Water sports and activities are the most popular form of recreation in the area and include swimming, surfing, kayaking, fishing and snorkeling. Copacabana has a Surf Life Saving Association and tennis facilities. There are also national parks nearby for bushwalkers. For golfers there is a driving range only 10 minutes away at Kincumber and more in Gosford and Woy Woy.
