Things to do in Central Coast
The Central Coast is full of great ideas for family outings and fun holiday activities. It you want something sporty there are numerous nature trails and cycle paths, plenty of bowling alleys and boat tours and opportunities to play golf and horse ride. For an experience unique to the area, take the kids to watch the daily Pelican feeding sessions at The Entrance.
Why not relax by the water at one of the region?s 30 beaches including Ettalong and Terrigal. You can go swimming, fishing, kayaking or just enjoy the view. The Central Coast also has extensive retail facilities and many movie cinemas for afternoon or night time entertainment.
For something more cultural, visit the many galleries and studios around the area. Or enjoy some live music at one of the beach side bars while sipping a drink or eating an afternoon snack.
Take stunning coastal walking and cycle paths, swim in the beautiful beaches and family friendly tidal pools and lakes, watch the pelicans being fed at the Entrance, view the Humpback Whales at Copacabana's viewing platform in winter, explore the national parks with their fauna and flora, ocean views, waterfalls and walks. There is something to do for all ages and tastes on the Central Coast .
History of Central Coast
Gosford was founded in the 1830s and was initially a government town but by the end of the century, produce in the area had expanded to include market gardens and citrus orchards. The region's development moved ahead more quickly when the rail link to Sydney was finished in 1887 and again when the Pacific Highway was built in 1930.
Landmark in Central Coast
Gosford is the major commercial and administrative centre of the Central Coast. Bouddi National Park is known for its bushwalking trails and Brisbane Waters National Park is near Umina. At Somersby there is the Australian Reptile Park Somersby Falls. The Skillion is the headland separating Avoca Beach and Terrigal Beach and is the place for dolphin and whale watching. Memorial Park at The Entrance is the site of the 3.30pm daily feeding of the Pelicans.
Shopping in Central Coast
The shopping facilities on the Central Coast cover a wide range of needs and tastes. From the sophisticated clothing boutiques along Terrigal and Avoca Beach to the eclectic markets at Toukley and Ettalong - there is a retail destination to suit everyone.
The Hive Erina Fair and Westfield Tuggerah are large family friendly retail and leisure centres ? perfect for an afternoon of family entertainment. Erina Fair offers 330 shops, an ice rink, cinemas and a library.
For something more low key, have a browse through some of the area?s local galleries and pick up a unique souvenir. The Ken Duncan Gallery and Neal Joseph Galleries are a good place to start. You will find more art and craft boutiques on the main streets of Terrigal and Avoca.
Restaurants & Cafes in Central Coast
For beach front restaurants complete with gourmet food and a pleasant sea breeze, the Central Coast is the place to come. Seafood is the specialty with many of the top restaurants serving fresh local produce. For an affordable family food option, try the local leagues clubs which all operate within a standard priced ?club network?.
The hotel restaurants and local bars provide regular live music from Jazz trios to Beatles cover bands. The Laycock Street Theatre and the Peninsula Theatre perform regular music shows and plays.
For day time cuisine, the Central Coast has a lively caf? culture and you will always be able to find fish and chips or a milkshake somewhere near the beach.

There are countless sporting opportunities available around the Central Coast region.
