Stroll along the 2.5km walking track and enjoy the unique sights and sounds of the Iluka Nature Reserve. If you are keen to witness more of Australias natural beauty, explore the nearby Bundjalung National Park.
If you feel like getting out on the water, there are daily cruises along the Clarence River you can even take an unforgettable evening barbecue cruise. The nearby expanse of Broadwater (just west of Maclean) and Clarence Rivers many tributaries make this area a boaties paradise.
There are also many beaches where you can swim or try surfing, including Iluka Bluff, Black Beach and Frazers Reef. If you like a good coffee, visit the Wombah Coffee Plantation on Iluka Road.
History of Iluka
Before European settlement, the region of Iluka was inhabited by the Yaygir or Bunjalung Aboriginal people. Iluka grew slowly from the 1860s, but it was mostly Yamba, on the other side of the river which was developed and commercialised. Iluka remained a small fishing port and is still enjoyed by tourists seeking a peaceful retreat.

The Iluka Nature Reserve is an ecological landmark. The region is home to the largest remnant of littoral rainforest in NSW where the trees are hydrated via filtration through coastal sand.
